Aeroshot: Caffeine you inhale.

These look pretty interesting… a shot of caffeine (equal to a large cup of coffee: 100mg) that you can inhale from a little canister. They were invented by a professor at Harvard, David Edwards, who seems to have other ideas/products in this category from his venture called “breathable foods.” The Aeroshot is set to release in Boston and NY in about 90 days…

Update:

So I’ve tried Aeroshot twice and both times the powder seemed to be crammed up and condensed in the cylinder, although the second time was much better.  The first time was actually quite terrible.  I tried taking a puff and nothing seemed to come out.  So I tried again, and again – inhaling slightly harder each time – still nothing much came out at all.  Finally, I pressed it to my lips and tried to inhale a little harder (but still not that hard) when suddenly a giant plume was released along with tiny crumbs – didn’t taste very wonderful, in fact, it tasted awful.  When I broke it open, there were clumps of the powder product in the bottom.  I did feel a mild caffeine rush.

The second time was much better – when I took my first puff and inhaled very mildly – I could taste a little.  The second puff and inhale, a decent amount came out.  While I don’t really like the taste, it isn’t bad.  This time no crumbs and I could feel a mild caffeine rush once again.

So maybe I just needed a little practice. Either way, I don’t think this will replace coffee in my life, although I may keep one in my bag for energy emergencies.
