Superhydrophobic Coating: NeverWet

neverwet

Water resistant coatings like Scotch Guard, Teflon, & Rain X have been around for years. Well, now a new product has been developed by Ross Nanotechnology, LLC called NeverWet. I’m not sure when it will be on the shelves, but hopefully soon.  It’s a silicon-based chemical with superhydrophobic properties, which of course means it’s super “water-fearing.”  Not only does it appear to block the absorption of water more than any other product I’ve seen, but they claim it also acts as an anti-icing, anti-bacterial, and anti-corrosive agent.  I’m still skeptical, but if it works I’ll have cleaner shoes and clothes, and won’t worry quite so much about water damage with my electronics.  Also, it would be nice to not have to wipe off my glasses when it rains…

The applications seem endless…
